The Krays
The first movie released in 1990 featuring the Kemp Brothers and respected actors in the shape of Billie Whitelaw (Violet) , Tom Bell (Jack The Hat) and Steven Berkoff (George Cornell). A romantic look at the Kray story and lacking in depth with the script failing to cover important issues such as Rons’ paranoid schizophrenia. Nonetheless it is an enjoyable film with a good soundtrack and made the twins and Charlie a lot of money and cemented their notoriety in society forever.
‘Legend’
Release date 2015. Starring Tom Hardy as both twins. Early indications are that this film will upset many of the diehard Kray fans and shatter the Kray legend. Based on John Pearsons’ ‘Profession Of Violence.’
The Rise Of The Krays
The Rise Of The Krays tracks their early years in a frightening tale of how two unknown 18 year old amateur boxers quickly fought their way to becoming the most feared and respected villains in all of London. Told through the eyes of a close friend that survived them, we see them rise to infamy through drugs, sex and murder. Their name became synonymous with crime in the UK and still resonates today. Release date in 2015 TBC.
There is rumoured to already be a sequel in the planning stages – The Fall Of The Krays.
